Famous Finds: Margot Robbie’s stylish office HQ in Los Angeles

A closer look at the Hollywood icon's film production office HQ.

We love seeing what’s new in interior design, whether commercial or residential projects, and can’t resist keeping an eye on the exclusive tours of celebrity homes featured regularly in Architectural Digest. The latest project to win our hearts isn’t a home at all, but an incredible LA office - HQ of Margot Robbie’s film production company, Lucky Chap.

We thought we’d share a few of our favourite spots in this suitably stylish workplace - and see if there’s any pieces in our collection which might be at home in Hollywood.

It’s telling that Robbie describes herself as not ‘an office person’ - while it’s clear that plenty of business gets done here, there’s no cookie-cutter desks and swivel chairs here. The 5000 square foot site was formerly home to a fish shop, but a transformation by friend and designer Scarlett Hessian has resulted in a space that’s elegant, original and creative, with a mid-century feel that’s accented by design details and extras to add personality.

The HQ features sofas throughout, from the team’s individual offices to the boutique-hotel style lobby and super-cool screening room. Robbie’s own office is decorated in pale neutrals with natural wood and accents of terracotta and leaf green. Texture is key here, with a solid marble-topped coffee table alongside a sculptural pouffe upholstered in velvet and a curved cream bouclé sofa. One of the latest additions to our sofa collection, Bean Sofa | Furniture Fusion, would sit perfectly in this space - a minimalist shape with a rounded silhouette, it’s available in a range of finishes and upholstery choices.

Robbie’s office features built-in walnut shelving and super-sized desk, with classic mid-century Scandinavian design chairs alongside. While these chairs were originally from the set of Barbie, there’s not a pop of sugar pink in sight - our Jima office chair has a similar retro look and can be supplied in a choice of fabrics and finishes to suit.

It’s notable that comfort is a key consideration here too - dining chairs upholstered in shimmering moss green velvet line the oversized table. The chairs’ soft curves and generous cushioning ensure that it’s going to be a good place to sit when meetings run late - our Dumbo chair has a similar look with a cloud-like shape and rounded silhouette.

As you’d expect for a film production company HQ, there’s a pretty special screening room, with plenty of space for guests and colleagues to sit in comfort. Natural wood and muted colours feature again here, along with an oversized sofa upholstered in burnt orange velvet (we made something similar for our project at Regent’s University London), and two button-backed lounge chairs upholstered in soft mustard yellow fabric.

Our C416 collection shares similar classic shape and styling - available as a lounge chair or sofa, it’s a great choice for a hotel lobby, bar or lounge or for use in a hotel suite or workplace project.

There’s no utilitarian canteen or office break room at Lucky Chap HQ - instead an oak-panelled kitchen with travertine workshops and floating oak shelves gives workers a homely place for meals and breaks. The dining area is just as chic as the rest, with soaring ceilings, sleek lighting and abstract art. A statement cement table sits at the heart of the space, with chairs arranged alongside a dining island where colleagues can relax and enjoy a drink or snack together.

Our Ghibli chair would work well here - featuring the classic woven cane back and available in a range of options for frame finish, detailing and seat.

Finally, when the Californian sun is calling, it’s time to head to the rooftop for some alfresco working. This space has a cool vintage feel, with sunshades and elegant sofas which would feel at home in a Slim Aarons photograph.

A chunky marble-topped dining table sits at the heart of the roof terrace, surrounded by slimline chairs with a retro feel - our Nolita side chair would work well here, complete with optional seat cushion to keep everyone sitting comfortably.

Our range of outdoor furniture includes chairs, sofas, bar stools and tables to suit any space but in addition to our main collection, we can also create bespoke pieces to suit every space and project - we love a chance to get creative and work collaboratively with clients and designers. A recent project working with Regal London saw us creating bespoke sofas for the roof terrace of a landmark new office development in Watford, and for another in the heart of London’s financial district.

It was a pleasure to supply restaurant furniture for what’s set to be a busy spot this summer - be first to hear details of our next projects by joining our mailing list or following us on Instagram.
