Hippodrome Casino, London
Colourful furniture for the rooftop terrace of London's biggest casino.
It's not every day that you receive a call to work with one of London's most renowned venues. The Hippodrome Casino - the biggest and busiest casino in the country - invited us to help transform its impressive rooftop terrace with exceptional furniture to match.
The Hippodrome has a fascinating history. Since opening in 1900, the iconic Grade-II listed building has been a circus, music hall, nightclub, theatre - and now a casino.
Up on the fifth-floor rooftop bar, patrons can sip cocktails while enjoying views over London's West End and beyond. It's a leafy, open-air oasis, designed to provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of the streets below.
The team had a clear brief for us - they wanted to improve the space without losing any covers, and introduce colourful furniture to complement their garden theme. We set to work developing exciting furniture proposals to match their precise vision.
Our Reva Twist Sofa and Lounge Chair and Panarea Armchair were ideal choices for creating relaxing seating areas thanks to their generous sizes and colourful finishes. We selected a striking orange for the frames and woven arms, with cushions in both orange and grey, which also worked well with the grey clad flooring.
When it comes to outdoor spaces, we select only high-quality furniture that will withstand the elements. The Maggie Modular Sofa is a prime example, used here to create a beautiful corner piece. Handcrafted from Alu-Rattan, a powder-coated aluminium that resembles rattan, and with quick-fry foam cushions, it adds a natural charm and will look great for years to come.
It's not always easy to match tables to the many colour options of our chairs. We embraced the challenge and selected our elegant Bypass Coffee Table, which is made entirely by hand, with a Carrara marble top and a garnet-coloured powder coat for the intricate base.
Our Arena Coffee Table was another winning choice for the lounge areas. Made from 100% recycled and recyclable steel, it's a stylish, practical and environmentally friendly design. We finished the top and frame in a beautiful terracotta hue.
Over at the existing high-top tables, we placed our popular Nolita Bar Stool with a slender tube frame in vibrant orange. The accompanying Nolita Side Chair sits at lower tables, as does our Babila Twist Armchair, finished this time in a sage green, which sits just right against the orange tones elsewhere.
This project deserved a truly unique perspective, so we commissioned a drone photographer to capture some incredible aerial views of our furniture in its final home - have a spin below. A special memento and showcase of our work.
